Qing-Yang Xiao and His Daughter Visit KING'S Booth as SmartEdge Takes the Stage at the 2026 Taiwan Design Expo
Chun-Tien Hsiao encapsulates a Type-C charging cable herself as low-pressure molding enters the Sustainable Flow exhibition area.
The 2026 Taiwan Design Expo opened in Taoyuan on September 24 and runs through October 11, spanning 18 days. Invited by the Taiwan Design Research Institute, KING'S Solution is exhibiting its SmartEdge benchtop low-pressure injection molding machine in the A6 “Sustainable Flow – TAOPIA” exhibition area at Messe Taoyuan. A limited number of visitors can operate the machine and complete the waterproof encapsulation of a Type-C charging cable, bringing a factory molding process into a hands-on design exhibition.

Designer Qing-Yang Xiao and his daughter, Chun-Tien Hsiao, visited the KING'S exhibition area. Together, they won the Best Recording Package award at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards. Chun-Tien made a charging cable herself, while the KING'S team took a photo with Qing-Yang Xiao. Other visitors included Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs Ho Chin-tsang, Industrial Development Administration Director General Chyou-Huey Chiou, and Taoyuan Deputy Mayor Su Jun-bin. Deputy Minister Ho and Deputy Mayor Su also joined the hands-on experience to see low-pressure molding up close.
Another designer who tried the machine said it was the first time they had seen industrial equipment like this and even expressed interest in buying one. The reaction stayed with the KING'S team: once the machine fits on a tabletop, designers can begin to imagine how they might use it in their own work.
Making an Airplane-Shaped Charging Cable with Bio-Based Material
The experience uses a bio-based PA low-pressure molding material derived from castor oil to create an airplane-shaped connector for a Type-C charging cable. The airplane reflects Taoyuan's identity as an aviation hub and the idea of “Taoyuan taking flight.” From the material and machine operation to the finished cable, visitors can discover how low-pressure molding is used to waterproof electronic products.
KING'S has long developed injection molding machines and hopes this exhibition will make manufacturing technology more accessible through science education. SmartEdge brings materials, design, and production together on one tabletop, turning “Green Solution, Machine Soulmate” into something visitors can experience firsthand. It also offers a glimpse of how low-pressure molding can contribute to lower-carbon manufacturing.
